Remodeling Not So Big
Criteria For Consideration
The selected projects will range in size from whole houses to a single room, to even a single element, like an added window seat, and will be exceptional interior spaces -- rich in detail, spatial ideas, design features, materials, and craftsmanship. The book will show anywhere from the entire remodel to one or two aspects, so no project is too small for consideration. The deadline for submission is December 16, 2005.
- Entries may be located in any geographic location, in any climate, and in any setting - urban, suburban, town, or country.
- Preference will be given to projects completed in the last 5 years.
- The project should be consistent with the Not So Big concept, emphasizing quality of space rather than a specific size.
- The exterior of the house should be as well designed as the interior to demonstrate the integrity and consistency of the design.
- Preference will be given to houses under 3,000 square feet on the main and upper levels, but outstanding larger homes will be considered.
- Homeowners must be willing to open their house to a photographer, and to sign releases for the publication of their property. The book's photographer will take all final photographs. Homeowner contact information will be kept private.
Submission Requirements
Please send two identical 8 1/2 x 11" binders (one for each author) containing the items listed below. You may submit more than one project in the binder, but please clearly label the projects and separate them with notebook dividers.
If you've already submitted a project, be sure to indicate that on the 2nd submission.
Each project submission requires:
- Completed Project Overview Form [download in Word or PDF]
- Plenty of images of the project (both overall and close-ups). Include:
- Before and After photos
- Photos of the integration of the project into the whole
- A few shots of the exterior
- These images will only be used for the review process. Only photographs and color printouts of digital images are acceptable. NO SLIDES, CDS, OR EMAIL ATTACHMENTS PLEASE.
- A one page typed narrative describing the project
- Before and After floor plans (if available)
- Site plan
- A FedEx airbill (with account number and return address) or self-addressed stamped return mail packaging if you would like your materials returned to you. Please note - this may take up to 9 months.
